The Autonomic Nervous System

Fascia di prezzo: da €35.00 a €125.00Incl. delivery

This minimalist chart presents the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) as a clean, structured comparison between sympathetic and parasympathetic function. Instead of overwhelming the viewer with dense neuroanatomical detail, the design isolates the essential regulatory pathways and organ responses — making autonomic balance immediately understandable.

At the centre, the vertebral column acts as a clean vertical reference line, clearly distinguishing cranial–sacral parasympathetic pathways from thoraco–lumbar sympathetic outflow. The left and right columns mirror one another, presenting corresponding organ effects side by side so that activation and inhibition patterns can be compared instantly rather than interpreted through dense text.

Key autonomic targets are organised into concise functional categories, including pupil regulation, salivation, airway tone, heart rate, vascular tone and digestive activity, as well as gallbladder function, intestinal motility, liver glucose release, bladder control and reproductive blood flow. The result is a structured overview of how autonomic balance influences core physiological processes at an organ level.

Rather than presenting the ANS as abstract physiology, the layout frames it as a functional dual-control system. Sympathetic activity prepares the body for mobilisation and heightened alertness. Parasympathetic activity supports restoration, digestion and recovery. The visual contrast clarifies this dynamic without excessive explanatory text.

This is not a comprehensive neuroanatomy atlas. It is intentionally selective. By focusing on essential organ responses and spinal distribution, the chart acts as an entry point into autonomic regulation. It supports patient education without cognitive overload — making it ideal for consultation rooms where clarity matters more than density.

In a modern treatment space, this ANS chart becomes a subtle but powerful educational tool. Instead of describing “fight-or-flight” and “rest-and-digest” in abstract terms, you can point directly to organ-level effects and explain how autonomic imbalance may influence symptoms.
