Spinal nerves are critical components of the nervous system, comprising 31 pairs that emerge from the spinal cord. These nerves are categorised into five regions: cervical, thoracic, lumbar, sacral, and coccygeal, with each region serving different parts of the body. Spinal nerves branch out into smaller nerves that innervate specific areas, thereby facilitating voluntary and involuntary movements, reflex actions, and sensory perceptions. They play a crucial role in connecting the central nervous system to the peripheral nervous system, contributing to overall bodily function and response to stimuli.
