Smartphones and social media have become part of everyday life. Messages, news feeds, videos and endless scrolling often keep our heads tilted forward for long periods of time. This posture, sometimes called online neck or text neck, describes the forward bending of the head and neck while looking down at a phone or screen.

When the head moves forward and the neck remains flexed, the load on the cervical spine increases dramatically. Over time this can lead to neck tension, shoulder discomfort, headaches and postural fatigue. Even short but repeated periods of screen use can gradually influence the way the spine and muscles function. This Care Statement poster approaches the topic with humour rather than instruction.
