Cranial Nerves Network Map

Twelve nerves. One extraordinary interface between brain and body.
The Cranial Nerves Network Map brings the twelve cranial nerves into a single coordinated visual system, revealing how each pathway emerges from the central nervous system, passes through the skull and continues toward the structures and functions it serves.

From CN I Olfactory to CN XII Hypoglossal, every nerve retains its own colour as the network moves through five anatomical levels: CNS Origins, Nerves, Skull Passages, Targets and Function.

Follow the route through the skull.
The map makes the cranial base part of the story. Routes pass through structures including the Cribriform Plate, Optic Canal, Superior Orbital Fissure, Foramen Rotundum, Foramen Ovale, Internal Acoustic Meatus, Jugular Foramen and Hypoglossal Canal, making shared passages, divisions and anatomical relationships immediately visible.

Complex intersections become something the eye can follow rather than something the viewer has to reconstruct mentally.

Where twelve nerves become human function.
The network ultimately reaches nine major target regions, connecting cranial nerve anatomy with the functions those pathways make possible. From smell and vision to eye movement and pupillary control, the map continues through facial sensation and expression, taste, salivation and tongue movement, hearing and balance, swallowing and phonation, baro- and chemoreception, cardiac, pulmonary and digestive control, and finally head rotation and shoulder elevation.

How this chart supports patient education.
The Cranial Nerves Network Map is designed for Physiotherapists, Chiropractors, Osteopaths, Neurologists, Physicians, Dental professionals, Anatomy Educators and Rehabilitation professionals. It can support clear explanations of cranial nerve pathways, sensory and motor function, swallowing, balance, facial function and autonomic relationships.

🎁 A distinctive gift for anyone fascinated by neuroanatomy: twelve cranial nerves, beautifully organised into one remarkable network.

Introducing our series of Anatomical Network Maps.
The human body is not a collection of isolated structures. It is a connected system of routes, junctions and outcomes. Inspired by the visual logic of transit maps, the new Network Map series by educare.design transforms complex anatomical pathways into organised visual systems: Roots become routes. Structures become stations. Functions become destinations. Each chart preserves the essential anatomy while making the connections easier to see, follow and explain.
