A staged life, such as too often seen on social media, presents a seemingly perfect and staged version of people’s lives, which can have a negative impact on mental health. It’s crucial to recognise that these curated posts are not an accurate representation of reality. Constantly comparing ourselves to others’ highlight reels can lead to feelings of inadequacy and can worsen mental health conditions like anxiety and depression. It’s important to prioritise self-care, set healthy boundaries with social media, and we hope that this artwork will serve as a reminder, that real life is much more complex and imperfect than what is portrayed online!

Mental health awareness is crucial for understanding and addressing the challenges individuals face regarding their emotional and psychological well-being. ✍︎ Remarks from the designer

I wanted to show a very typically staged social media post, as often seen from the self-proclaimed influencers – and then question the point of emulating something fake. With this artworks we hope to increase awareness of the many mental health issues caused by social media. Research has linked excessive social media use to feelings of loneliness, depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem. It is therefore essential to educate individuals about healthy social media habits, such as setting boundaries, taking breaks, and focusing on real-life connections.
