What’s Anatomy of the Foot?
The human foot consists of 26 bones, including the tarsals, metatarsals, and phalanges, organized into three main sections: the hindfoot (comprising the talus and calcaneus), the midfoot (made up of the navicular, cuboid, and cuneiform bones), and the forefoot (consisting of the metatarsals and phalanges). These bones are interconnected by ligaments and tendons, allowing for flexibility and stability. The foot also features arches (medial, lateral, and transverse) that help distribute weight and absorb shock during activities like walking and running. Additionally, the foot contains various muscles and connective tissues that aid in movement and support.
