He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and holds certifications in Functional Range Conditioning (FRC) and Functional Range Assessment (FRA).

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Hoggatt provides specialized consultations and strength and conditioning programs for amputees and Paralympic track and field hopefuls. His expertise lies in optimizing performance and rehabilitation for athletes and individuals with complex functional needs. Dr. Hoggatt brings a multidisciplinary approach to his practice, combining advanced education with hands-on experience to deliver innovative care solutions.

His collaboration ensures that the anatomical levels and prosthetic representation reflect real-world clinical reasoning and performance application.

A conceptual anatomy artwork mapping amputation levels onto the iconic Vitruvian Man — transforming a universally recognised image into a precise educational reference.

The Vitruvian Amputee chart presents upper and lower limb amputation levels in a circular format surrounding the central figure. Each level is clearly numbered and corresponds to a structured reference list, allowing rapid visual orientation. By integrating prosthetic representations into Leonardo da Vinci’s classical human proportions, the artwork creates immediate recognition while maintaining clinical clarity.

Rather than presenting amputation levels in a conventional diagrammatic format, this chart reframes the topic within a broader anatomical and historical context. The juxtaposition of classical symmetry with modern prosthetic intervention highlights both structural loss and functional adaptation. The result is a visual dialogue between anatomy, rehabilitation and performance.

This piece is particularly relevant in settings focused on orthopaedics, prosthetics, rehabilitation, sports performance and adaptive athletics. It supports discussion of: Partial foot and below-knee levels, Above-knee and hip disarticulation, Forearm and transhumeral levels, Biomechanical implications of limb absence, and Prosthetic integration and functional restoration.

In clinical environments, the artwork functions as both educational tool and conversation catalyst. It invites curiosity while maintaining professional integrity, making complex surgical and rehabilitative pathways more approachable for patients, families and interdisciplinary teams.

Free customisation with your clinic’s name.
For this artwork we offer to add your clinic’s name (or website address) for free!
